Los Angeles, Texas & the movies inside the movies

The Tarantinoverse

Fifteen films, two universes, one brand of cigarettes. A fan guide to every family tree, recurring character and fake burger that ties Quentin Tarantino's movies together.

Chapter One

The films

In release order: the ten he directed, the ones he wrote for other directors, his Four Rooms segment, and Planet Terror, the other half of Grindhouse.

    Chapter Two

    Two universes

In 2016, Tarantino said on the Australian talk show The Project that his characters live in a "realer than real" universe, and that Kill Bill and From Dusk Till Dawn are movies those characters would go see. He only placed those two. The rest is sorted by fans.

      Chapter Five

      Timeline

The realer-than-real universe in story order, from Django's Mississippi to Mia Wallace's living room. History runs differently here: Hitler dies in a Paris cinema, and the Manson family picks the wrong house.

Playing at a theater near them: Kill Bill and From Dusk Till Dawn, per Tarantino, plus Death Proof and Planet Terror by fan sorting. They're movies the realer-universe characters watch, which is how Earl McGraw can die in one and keep working in the others.

        Red Apple spotter

Tarantino invents his own brands instead of paying for product placement. Check off each sighting on your next rewatch. Your checks stay in this browser.

        Order at Jack Rabbit Slim's

The 1950s-themed restaurant from Pulp Fiction, where the waiters dress as old stars. This menu is ours, not the movie's.
